Job Overview
Under general oversight, the individual is responsible for ensuring that the assigned educational facility, group of buildings, or office area is maintained in a clean, organized, and secure condition according to a set schedule. Additional related tasks may be required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough cleaning activities including sweeping, mopping, stripping, waxing, and sealing floors; vacuuming carpets; dusting, washing, and polishing furniture and woodwork; emptying and sanitizing waste receptacles; and cleaning restrooms, locker rooms, and showers. This also includes washing windows and walls, polishing metal fixtures, and cleaning chalkboards. Window coverings such as drapes and blinds are also maintained. Collecting litter and debris from school grounds and adjacent areas is essential. Sweeping concrete surfaces near the buildings is also part of the role. Emergency clean-up services are performed in response to breakage, vandalism, spills, and health-related incidents.
  • Rearranging and setting up furniture and equipment to prepare multi-purpose rooms or classrooms for special events or meetings.
  • Assisting in the receipt and distribution of supplies and equipment.
  • Performing minor maintenance tasks to ensure assigned areas are safe and functional. Occasional routine ground and building maintenance duties may also be required.
  • Carrying out other related responsibilities as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Knowledge:
  • Familiarity with cleaning agents, disinfectants, and equipment utilized in custodial work; understanding of tools and their applications, particularly in minor maintenance tasks.

Skills:
  • Ability to comprehend and execute both oral and written instructions.
  • Capability to perform minor repairs.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.

Education:
  • Completion of high school or equivalent educational background.
