Position Overview:
The Senior Mechanical Engineering Supervisor is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the daily maintenance and operational requirements of advanced radar systems. This position entails providing expert technical guidance and leadership to ensure the effective execution of maintenance tasks and the resolution of intricate technical challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and mentor personnel engaged in routine and corrective maintenance activities.
- Utilize professional expertise to prioritize maintenance tasks and troubleshoot complex issues by interpreting technical documentation and collaborating with external support when necessary.
- Coordinate the efforts of onboard teams, assigning specific tasks and conducting quality assurance reviews to ensure high standards of work.
- Advise management on maintenance planning and operational activities, stepping in as needed to fulfill managerial responsibilities.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and operational procedures, fostering a culture of safety and efficiency among team members.
- Identify necessary materials and specialized tools required for daily operations and ensure personnel receive appropriate training on equipment and systems.
- Lead a team of three or more individuals, providing technical training and support as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational goals.
Essential Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in mechanical engineering and maintenance operations.
- In-depth knowledge of electro-mechanical systems, including hydraulic motors, complex gear assemblies, and air handling units.
- Proficient in analyzing system performance and identifying areas for improvement.
- Ability to read and modify schematic diagrams and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to lead teams and develop operational procedures as necessary.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to prepare and deliver technical presentations.
- Active security clearance as required.
- Valid passport with sufficient validity and blank pages for travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Eligibility for advanced security clearance upon hire.
- Familiarity with radar cooling systems and associated components.
- Experience in troubleshooting both analog and digital circuitry.
- Knowledge of mathematical computing tools such as MATLAB and Excel.
- Understanding of phased array radar systems and related technologies.
- Experience with quality assurance processes and documentation.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience is preferred.
Additional Requirements:
This is a full-time position requiring deployment on a vessel. Candidates must be free from motion sickness and meet medical examination standards as required. Advanced knowledge of the work area is essential, typically gained through a combination of education and extensive experience.
