The Biltmore Company is seeking a skilled Bistro Cook I to join our culinary team. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality food products for our menu items and specials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare food and ingredients for use in menu items and specials.
- Maintain a sanitized work area and adhere to proper ServSafe requirements.
- Participate in ensuring all equipment is properly cleaned, maintained, and in safe working order.
- Clean and organize all stations, coolers, and walk-ins for next shift.
- Double-check daily forecasts to prepare and set up properly.
- Accountable for proper rotation, storage, and dating of all food items.
- Ensure all items are properly prepared, sliced/cut, garnished, and consistently presented to Biltmore's quality standards.
- Responsible for all prep work for line stations.
- Check all food items daily for quality and freshness.
- Prepare and plan in advance to ensure everything needed for next shift is ready for the following day.
Requirements:
- Previous experience with food preparation in a full-service restaurant is strongly preferred.
- Culinary certification(s) and/or training are helpful.
- Basic math, knife handling, and food preparation skills are required.
- Knowledge of food sanitation procedures and ServSafe certification are preferred.
- Ability to read and execute recipes.
- Able to work effectively with or without direct supervision.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to be proactive, exercise good judgment, and take initiative where needed.
- Commitment to delivering world-class guest service and dining experiences.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to sit, stand, twist, bend, push, pull, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis for periods of up to 12 hours a day.
- Able to work effectively in a kitchen environment with fluctuations in temperature and conditions (heat, cold, humidity) for an extended period of time.
