As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Walden, you will be part of a highly collaborative team environment where you will have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our patients. **Job Summary**
The LPN administers medications under the supervision of the charge nurse, nurse manager, or nursing supervisor. They can administer care under this direction with the exclusion of doing nursing assessments or admissions. As an LPN at Walden, you will be responsible for:
- Assuming responsibility for the quality of nursing care provided to patients, including maintaining optimal patient health, teaching, counseling, collaborative planning, and restoration of optimal function.
- Incorporating knowledge and understanding of our commitment to patient rights, our mission, vision, and values into nursing practice at Walden Behavioral Care.
- Acting as a patient advocate and assisting patients in developing skills to advocate for themselves.
- Documenting all appropriate patient information in a timely manner.
- Assessing vital signs and reporting abnormalities to the physician.
- Practicing within the general policies, philosophy, and objectives of the Department of Nursing and the hospital.
- Providing nursing care in a therapeutically effective manner, demonstrating sound clinical and professional judgment and competency.
- Participating in community meetings and group therapies when assigned.
- Maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment for patients, family members, and staff.
- Providing ongoing patient/family education relative to each patient.
- Accurately transcribing medication and treatment orders and maintaining medication administration records (MAR).
- Accurately and safely administering prescribed medications and treatments to patients using correct methods of administration.
- Evaluating and documenting patient response to medication regimen and identifying needs to administer PRN medication and document effectively.
**Requirements**
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school for Practical Nursing.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a hospital setting.
- Massachusetts LPN license.
- CPR certification.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize independently.
- Ability to multi-task in a changing and fast-paced mental health environment.
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative, team environment.
- Proficiency in electronic documentation.
**Benefits Package**
We offer a competitive salary of $60,000 per year, plus a sign-on bonus of $3,000 for FT Overnight shifts.
