Activity Director

At Vitalia Active Adult Community at Solon, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Resident Services Director to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our residents and contribute to the success of our community.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program that promotes resident engagement, socialization, and overall well-being.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of caregivers and volunteers to ensure a high-quality experience for residents.
- Collaborate with other departments to identify and address resident needs and concerns.
- Manage the facility's volunteer program and ensure effective communication with volunteers.
- Develop and maintain a resident book, including contact information and resident interests.
- Participate in resident orientations and provide information on community amenities and expectations.
- Monitor resident ADLs and social skills, and communicate potential difficulties or opportunities to the appropriate team member.
- Encourage and motivate residents to participate in activities and provide assistance when needed.
- Plan daily schedules to maximize interaction with residents.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Assist in monitoring the emergency call system and respond according to protocol.
- Coordinate and participate in resident council meetings to address resident concerns and suggestions.
- Develop and implement a written plan of monthly activities, including evening and night programming.
- Direct, coordinate, and evaluate resident activities to ensure a wide range of programs that meet residents' physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual needs.
- Manage the facility's transportation schedule, including trips to doctor's appointments, social events, and other out-of-community activities.
- Maintain current CDL to assist in transportation.
- Manage the department within budgeted guidelines.
- Interview new residents and existing residents periodically to discover activity interests and develop programs to fit the interests of the majority of the resident population.
- Organize leisure time activities, such as games, puzzles, movies, and other events.
- Coordinate special outside activities, including scenic drives, luncheon and dinner outings, shopping, and field trips.
- Seek opportunities to collaborate with other therapy programs and connect the community with city and county community resources.
- Supervise and operate the country store, in conjunction with the business director, to purchase inventory, account for monies, and suggest inventory changes according to resident needs and wishes.
- Decorate the community for special events, holidays, and parties.
- Participate in the manager on duty schedule.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Have at least one year of experience in conducting group activities and be knowledgeable in evaluating resident needs, supervising other employees, and training volunteers.
- Knowledge of the requirements for providing care and supervision appropriate to the residents.
- Be in good health and physically and mentally capable of performing assigned tasks.
- Good physical health and freedom from tuberculosis shall be verified by a health screening performed by a physician not more than six months prior to or seven days after employment.
- Must be criminally cleared.
- Must have a clean driving record as per the insured's policy.
- Must have CDL license.
