Surgical Technologist Level II

Mass General Brigham is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Technologist Level II to join our team on a per diem basis. As a key member of our surgical team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms.
Key Responsibilities- Provide a clean, safe, and efficient environment for patients and staff
- Utilize aseptic surgical techniques to prepare materials, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures
- Assist with patient safety measures, such as safety strap application and protective padding
- Collaborate with the RN to prepare and position patients for surgery
- Perform counts with the circulator to verify removal of all countable items from the surgical site
- Handle surgical specimens according to procedure and ensure proper labeling
- Ensure the availability of equipment and supplies for emergencies
- Check expiration dates on sterile products and resolve any deficiencies
- Communicate essential information to the surgical team and update preference cards
- Clean and restock rooms using aseptic technique
- Dispose of waste materials according to established protocols
- Separate instrumentation into appropriate containers and follow individualized protocols for care and maintenance
- Ensure par levels of supplies and the presence of necessary equipment and furniture
- Assist with teaching and emotional support for patients and families during the perioperative phase
- Make appropriate use of supplies, equipment, and resources to maintain a cost-effective program
- Participate in staff meetings and contribute to quality assurance initiatives
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other medical center personnel
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team and independently
- Knowledge of basic anatomy, medical terminology, and treatment procedures commonly used in the administration of anesthesia
- Understanding of aseptic technique and institutional infection control policies
- Knowledge of HIPPA, Confidentiality, and Privacy policies, plus emergency protocols
- Knowledge and understanding of service-specific specialty instrumentation and equipment
- Ability to problem solve and demonstrate skills in teamwork, collaboration, and communication
- Receptive to feedback and participates in conflict management
- Ability to function independently in emergency situations
