Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Specialist to join our team at The Arc of Alachua County. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our buildings and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on facilities and equipment
  • Inspect buildings for maintenance issues and respond to requests as assigned
  • Develop and provide cost estimates for labor and materials
  • Perform a variety of tasks including brick, cement, and carpentry work
  • Install, maintain, and repair valves, sinks, sewers, and other sanitary fixtures
  • Install, maintain, and repair electric motors, generators, and related electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and cost of repairs
  • Provide maintenance services within allocated budget
  • Instruct Arc staff in appropriate building and equipment maintenance
  • Receive, inventory, and maintain materials and supplies
  • Ensure equipment under warranty is tracked and appropriate action is taken to resolve repair, service, or replacement issues
  • Assist with development and implementation of safety programs for all Arc buildings
  • Assist in safeguarding and protecting Arc buildings and properties during emergency evacuations, disasters, and aiding in recovery and restoration efforts
Requirements
  • Two years proven experience in building maintenance work
  • Considerable knowledge of modern methods used in routine maintenance of buildings and facilities
  • Considerable knowledge in the use and maintenance of common hand and power tools
  • Some knowledge of County and State laws, codes, and ordinances governing building, electrical, and plumbing standards
  • Knowledge of emergency and disaster preparedness for facilities and equipment
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize
  • Ability to work independently and in team settings
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Care properly for equipment and resources
  • Must be a qualified driver and have reliable transportation
  • Ability to promote the dignity and respect of those we serve
  • Maintain positive interactions with clients, parents, guardians, co-workers, supervisors, and people in the community
