Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Chemical Formulation Specialist to join our team at LHH Recruitment Solutions. As a key member of our research and development team, you will be responsible for developing new compounds and improving existing ones to meet customer specifications and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Compound Development: Analyze compounds and manage corresponding data tracking to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.
  2. Physical and Chemical Properties: Define and determine physical and chemical properties for compounds to optimize performance and efficiency.
  3. Formulation Development: Oversee the development and issuance of new formulations for new compounds based on customer requirements and specifications.
  4. Investigation and Testing: Conduct investigation of new and old formulations to replace raw materials, enhance performance, and minimize cost.
  5. Quality Standards: Maintain quality standards and oversee raw material substitutions as required.
  6. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) team to update and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and prepare technical data information for customers.
  7. Product Development: Generate ideas for new product development and manage tests performed with accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
  8. Production Support: Make recommendations regarding production lines and trial formulations, attend and oversee production trials, and ensure formulations are being utilized as intended.
  9. Regulatory Compliance: Responsible for managing regulatory files, including NSF and UL qualifications and certifications, and participate in annual audits.
  10. Equipment Maintenance: Oversee monitoring of equipment to ensure safety precautions are being followed and assist in ISO audits and creating, maintaining, and updating of R&D ISO documents.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in chemistry (not biology).
  2. Minimum of three years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment of PVC material.
  3. Highly preferred - experience in a PVC compounding setting.
  4. ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, with a desired ASQ Six Sigma Green Belt highly preferred.
  5. Possesses in-depth knowledge of quality control/quality assurance procedures and legal standards.
  6. Proven expertise in chemistry relating to surface-interface properties as well as surface characterization.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and competence in other Microsoft Office 365 applications or related programs.
  8. Effective promoter of positive culture and relationships utilizing clear and positive communication across the board.
  9. Highly detail-oriented.
  10. Expert in time management, capable of working under pressure as well as meeting deadlines.
  11. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  12. Oversee task prioritization and delegation when necessary.
