Clinical Analyst Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Analyst to join our team at Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in clinical IT and experience working with electronic health records.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain electronic health record systems, software applications, and databases
  • Collaborate with clinicians, ancillary departments, and Health Information Technology to align clinical and HIT standards
  • Provide vision and oversight for complex enterprise projects, establishing strategic and short-term plans for information technology systems
  • Design and support clinical information system training, direct and coordinate health information system operations activities
  • Translate clinician requirements into specifications for clinical information system redesign
  • Coordinate and manage the design, acquisition, training, and implementation of clinical/healthcare informatics
  • Organize teams/workgroups to support the effective ongoing efforts of electronic health record documentation systems
  • Identify applicable information systems that support clinical disciplines, coordinate research, selection, and planning implementation of clinical applications
  • Facilitate effective communications between different clinical user groups, ensure smooth implementation of functional elements, applications, and major upgrades
  • Identify risks, potential impact, and mitigation strategies, implement corrective action plans related to electronic health record optimization requirements
  • Work collaboratively with hospital leadership to facilitate completion of periodic change and optimization assessments
  • Serve as primary resource to the education department with regards to all clinical applications and affiliates
  • Assess clinical staff understanding in using clinical systems, post implementation and upgrades, and make recommendations as needed
  • Use a structured problem-solving methodology to identify and clarify issues, develop, implement, and evaluate informatics solutions
  • Responsible for recommending solutions to problems related to an effective electronic health record
  • Complete all specialized training congruent with HIT department, demonstrate ability to cross-train within clinical modalities and informatics environments
  • Perform clinical rounds within various medical, nursing, and ancillary arenas to validate usefulness of electronic health record's documentation system and compliance to policy and procedure and regulatory validation requirements
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in nursing (individuals without a BSN will be required to complete the degree within 5 years of their hire date)
  • Minimum of two (2) years of ambulatory or acute care experience required with at least one to two years of clinical IT experience working with an electronic health record data system and documentation requirements
  • Current California Nursing license
  • At least two years of experience in Cerner functionality to include PowerChart Ambulatory modules
  • Knowledge of Cerner's HealtheIntent platform to include HealtheCare, HealtheRegistries, and HCC's
  • Additional experience in reporting out of Cerner and/or Tableau dashboards is a plus
