Therapy Support Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Therapy Technician to join our team at Georgia Hand Shoulder & Elbow P C. As a Therapy Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting our Occupational Therapists and Therapy Coordinator in providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Splinting:
- Assist therapists in creating custom splints for patients by cutting out patterns from thermoplastic materials and applying straps or riveted straps and Velcro.
- Smooth rough edges on splints and sew splint straps or garments as needed.
- Clean and pad splints before they are fitted by therapists and assist with forming orthotics.
- Restock splint island shelves and fabricate splint kits, including pre-made straps.
- Clean splint pans and split scissors and assist with reordering monthly supplies.
- Maintain the sewing machine in working order.
- Wound Care Area:
- Clean whirlpools after use and disinfect debridement tables.
- Restock essential supplies for daily use and scrub and package debridement tools.
- Shoulder Room:
- Restock towels, sheets, and pillowcases as they are laundered and change them after each patient use, disinfecting tables in the process.
- Clean and refill hydrocollator monthly and refill ultrasound gel containers weekly.
- Return hot packs to hydrocollator after each patient use and top off hydrocollator water daily.
- Modalities:
- Clean paraffin excess and refill daily; clean paraffin machines monthly and clean the filter in the fluidotherapy machine bi-monthly.
- Clinic Area:
- Interview new patients and complete intake information in writing or into the computer.
- Assist with patient flow, helping patients with questions or concerns regarding check-in, checkout, or moving to the next area of treatment.
- Clean and straighten therapy clinic during and after treatments and straighten weight area during and after treatments.
- Maintain the BTE work simulator in working order, wipe down doors and lockers, and refill lotions and gels.
- Wipe down therapy tables at the end of the day and restock all billable items ordered.
- Make copies of patient handouts to replenish supplies.
Addition Responsibilities:
- Assist with ordering and restocking monthly supplies for splinting, wound care, modalities, and therapy supplies for the clinic.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with patients, therapists, and other staff members.
- Excellent Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Ability to Maintain Confidential Records: Maintain confidentiality of patient records and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Lifting up to 15 pounds at times.
Please note: Therapy Technicians are not to engage in patient evaluations, treatment planning, or patient care unless directly assisting a therapist who is carrying out the treatment plan.
