Position Summary
The successful candidate will independently oversee cross-functional project teams throughout all stages of Infrastructure-Utility, Laboratory-Office, and GMP Manufacturing initiatives. This role demands a consistent delivery of projects that align with stakeholder expectations and are fully prepared for operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Employ project management methodologies and tools to initiate, design, and assess plans for assigned projects, ensuring adherence to budget and timelines while coordinating simultaneous activities.
- Lead project execution teams, including Manufacturing and Facilities personnel, as well as external vendors and contractors, managing projects valued between $500K and $10M.
- Facilitate clear and timely communication regarding project scope and status to all relevant stakeholders, addressing both technical and non-technical matters.
- Collaborate with Purchasing to develop bid packages for design and construction contracts, effectively managing the negotiation and administration of contracts with various stakeholders.
- Prepare comprehensive project estimates covering design, equipment, installation, labor, and materials.
- Develop and maintain detailed MS Project schedules that encompass critical milestones and resource constraints, utilizing appropriate scheduling techniques.
- Monitor project expenditures and cash flows on a monthly basis, providing management with updates on project progress.
- Oversee the engagement of external design partners and construction firms, ensuring timely delivery of project scope and managing the development of design documents.
- Conduct inspections to verify compliance with design specifications, safety regulations, and local codes, ensuring that all contractors receive proper orientation and training.
- Establish performance criteria and execute commissioning plans, ensuring rigorous testing and validation of projects and equipment.
- Maintain financial control through effective scope management, risk assessment, and project closure, negotiating with contractors to ensure budget compliance.
- Provide regular project management reports and presentations, monitoring overall project execution.
- Incorporate safety considerations into all project aspects, including construction safety management and environmental controls.
- Utilize effective meeting management strategies to ensure productive project meetings, including agenda development and timely distribution of minutes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering is required; an advanced degree or MBA is advantageous.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in Project Engineering and Management, with a proven track record in leading cross-functional teams for complex projects in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Facilities.
- Strong technical knowledge in pharmaceutical equipment and utilities systems is preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project is essential.
- Comprehensive understanding of engineering standards and regulatory requirements, including GMP/GLP and OSHA.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills are critical.
- Ability to adapt to flexible scheduling and travel as required.
