This position is responsible for providing direct patient care to patients of the SIU Center for Family Medicine, a federally qualified health center and residency training program, in the inpatient setting.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct inpatient care to patients of the Center.
- Act as a teaching physician to residents on the Family Medicine Inpatient Service, including direct patient care, procedural skills, and doctor-patient relationship.
- Serve as a mentor to family practice residents, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
- Conduct and supervise inpatient-teaching rounds.
- Develop and facilitate core curriculum conferences for the residency program.
- Participate in hospitalist family medicine call and provide emergency services to patients as needed.
- Participate in Center Peer Review and Quality Improvement activities.
- Must possess an MD/DO degree.
- Must have graduated from an accredited residency training program at time of hire.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine at time of hire.
- Licensed to practice Medicine in the state of Illinois at time of hire.
- Must be willing to practice inpatient family medicine.
