ROLE SUMMARY:

The Chief Operations Officer at Reading Truck Body is pivotal in managing all manufacturing processes and support functions. This role is accountable for meeting objectives related to Quality, Safety, Delivery, Cost, and employee engagement. The position reports directly to the President of Reading Truck Body.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Formulate a clear vision to align with the company's growth aspirations.
  • Initiate cultural transformation to foster a cohesive company culture across all manufacturing sites.
  • Evaluate the talent landscape and concentrate on developing a pipeline to fulfill operational requirements.
  • Drive financial discipline to assess opportunities and maintain a robust balance sheet.
  • Create a safe working environment that emphasizes compliance and safety.
MANUFACTURING DUTIES:
  • Ensure uniformity across facilities and implement best practices.
  • Lead a comprehensive manufacturing strategy emphasizing automation and lean methodologies.
  • Uphold high standards in manufacturing operations, product quality, safety, and cost efficiency.
  • Guide efficiency enhancements and track departmental metrics.
  • Oversee investments, headcount, and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Develop and inspire the team while focusing on continuous improvement.
OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE DUTIES:
  • Evaluate facilities, manage upgrades, and oversee capital projects.
  • Supervise logistics and materials management to achieve inventory objectives.
  • Ensure equipment reliability and support Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives.
  • Implement strategies to enhance core processes and boost productivity.
  • Utilize Six Sigma and Lean tools for ongoing improvement.
REQUIRED EXPERTISE:
  • Manufacturing leader with over 12 years of experience.
  • Proficient in factory automation, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong leader with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Financial acumen and operational P&L oversight.
  • Proven success in enhancing performance and safety standards.
  • Experience in acquisition integration is advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel domestically as necessary.
