About SimpliSafe
We're a high-tech home security company that's passionate about protecting the life you've built and our mission of keeping Every Home Secure. Our culture is built on collaboration and innovation, where talented individuals can find big opportunities and make a huge impact on the lives of those we protect.

We're embracing a hybrid work model that enables our teams to split their time between office and home. This means we expect our teams to come together in our state-of-the-art office on two core days, typically Tuesday and Wednesday, working together in person and choosing where they work for the remainder of the week. We all benefit from flexibility and get to use the best of both worlds to get our work done.

We're hiring because we're growing and thriving. We need smart, talented, and humble people who share our values to join us as we disrupt the home security space and relentlessly pursue our mission of keeping Every Home Secure.

What You'll Do
As an Engineering Manager on our Operations Engineering team, you'll assume leadership of new projects and build solutions from inception through to production - from design, development, testing, and deployment. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Directly managing a small team of developers
  • Hiring and growing world-class people for your team
  • Collaborating with product owners to translate business requirements into platform capabilities that deliver value for our customers - both now and in the future
  • Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the team
  • Ensuring continuous delivery of customer value
  • Maintaining a high level of technical excellence and reliability by working directly with your team every sprint
  • Helping create a technical vision that maximizes security for our customers and flexibility for our business
  • Guiding your team to deliver on that vision
  • Being hands-on and contributing to the codebase

What You'll Bring
The ideal candidate has experience leading agile teams and a passion for developing people and acting as a force multiplier, while having the technical strength to get in the weeds and accurately assess and grow team and individual performance. You'll be collaborative by nature, adept at building consensus to solve technical and organizational challenges, and enjoy challenges and problem-solving. You'll also have knowledge of REST, GraphQL, and modern web technologies, experience designing and implementing backend services and APIs, and a demonstrated ability to participate in code reviews, write documentation, and architect and present software solutions. Additionally, you'll be familiar with building and running scalable and fault-tolerant cloud-based microservices using AWS, Azure, or GCP, and have 10+ years of professional full-stack software development experience and 5+ years of people management experience. We also value e-commerce experience, including platforms like Commercetools or Shopify, and experience with Node.js frameworks such as NestJS, infrastructure as code and DevOps experience such as Terraform or CDK, knowledge of containerization including Docker, Kubernetes, or ECS, experience with Contentful or other content management systems, automation testing experience with tools like Cypress, and experience with React frameworks such as Next.js or Remix. On-call and internal employee support experience is also a plus.

What Values You'll Share
We wholeheartedly embrace and actively seek applications from all individuals, no matter how they identify. We are committed to cultivating a diverse and inclusive workplace, and we believe our work is enriched when we incorporate a multitude of perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences. We want everyone who works here to thrive and contribute to not only our mission of keeping every home secure, but also to making our workplace safe and supportive for others. If a reasonable accommodation may be needed to fully participate in the job application or interview process, to perform the essential functions of a position, or to receive other benefits and privileges of employment, please contact careers@simplisafe.com.
