Job Title: Machine Shop Supervisor

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Machine Shop Supervisor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising all aspects of operations for Davis-Standard's manufacturing department for an assigned shift. This includes supervising the inspection of machined parts, executing the LDM process, and facilitating problem-solving sessions to address operational and technical performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the day-to-day process of reviewing jobs, work orders, and routings to ensure accurate and correct labor corrections and job completions.
  • Develop and implement a standardized training process for all department personnel, including creating standardized work instructions and ensuring new employees are consistently trained on all manufacturing processes.
  • Schedule work of machining centers and personnel, taking into consideration overall lead times of given projects and anticipating and resolving bottlenecks when work competes for the same resources.
  • Work with Programmers to develop methods for parts and assemblies, as well as scheduling job releases for machining and assembly.
  • Provide updates on the status of machining, proposing project milestones, completion of milestones, and project delivery.
Qualifications/Skills
  • At least eight (8) years of progressive job responsibilities working in a manufacturing setting, with a proven understanding of and experience in a high-precision machining and assembly environment.
  • At minimum three (3) years in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of schematic documentation and dimensioning, as well as the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, parts, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tool operating procedures and CNC programming experience in a manufacturing environment on similar equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to effectively solve problems both on an individual and collaborative approach.
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office 365 and production software, as well as familiarity with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems - preferably Epicor.
  • Effective communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
