Licensed Respiratory Care Specialist

As a vital member of the healthcare team, you will deliver respiratory therapy and pulmonary function testing to patients as prescribed by physicians, adhering to established protocols and standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Collaborate closely with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient care.
2. Train and orient junior staff members, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
3. Administer respiratory therapy to patients in accordance with physician orders and established practices.
4. Receive and process verbal and telephonic orders related to patient respiratory care.
5. Set up and monitor equipment for patients requiring continuous ventilation, including performing nasotracheal and tracheal suctioning.
6. Conduct regular patient rounds to observe conditions, check equipment functionality, and make necessary adjustments.
7. Organize home oxygen setups as directed by physicians.
8. Perform pulmonary function tests as requested by the medical team.
9. Uphold departmental policies, procedures, and quality assurance measures, ensuring safety and infection control.
10. Maintain accurate department and patient records, collecting necessary statistical data.
11. Participate in monthly staff meetings, contributing to the overall strategy of cardiopulmonary services.
12. Commit to ongoing professional development by obtaining 20 continuing education units every two years to sustain licensure.
Professional Conduct
Demonstrate exemplary guest relations skills and professionalism in all interactions within the healthcare environment. Maintain an open-minded approach to problem-solving and adhere to compliance policies and regulations.
Reporting Structure
This position reports directly to the Cardiopulmonary Manager.
Qualifications
To qualify, candidates must be graduates of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program, possess a current state license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, and hold certification in basic CPR. Relevant experience in respiratory therapy is also required.
Work Environment
This role involves exposure to flammable gases and requires physical stamina, including lifting and moving equipment, as well as prolonged periods of standing and walking. Flexibility in scheduling, including weekend rotations, may be necessary based on staffing needs.
