The Need:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate resident care specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will work in a collaborative team environment, providing therapeutic interventions to individuals struggling with behavioural health challenges. As a resident care specialist, you will have the opportunity to help clients overcome barriers, provide solution-focused interventions, and make a meaningful impact by supporting clients in their recovery journey.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe, secure, and structured environment for clients
  • Act as a non-clinical resource for clients, providing crisis intervention, active listening, and answering non-clinical questions
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of client activity and behaviour
  • Perform facilities maintenance and report any issues to the supervisor
  • Assist with administrative tasks, including client chart reviews, answering phones, greeting guests, copying, and filing
  • Transport clients to offsite meetings and activities as needed
  • Participate in monthly individual supervision and required training programs
  • Facilitate required groups and structured activities
  • Participate in shift changes, including giving and receiving verbal reports and passing keys to incoming staff
  • Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Must be 21 years old, high school graduate or equivalent
  • Must maintain client confidentiality and professional boundaries
  • Must adhere to all necessary documentation and policies
  • Must support the centre's mission, vision, and values, and promote a positive, pro-social environment for clients
