Overview
As a Residential Lending Consultant, you will engage with members to discuss their first mortgage loan options and facilitate the mortgage application process.

Your role will involve fostering and nurturing personal relationships with members, guiding them through every step of their mortgage journey from application to closing.

You will assess applicants' eligibility, provide comprehensive information about our mortgage and equity loan offerings, clarify the intricacies of the mortgage process, and tailor financing solutions to meet individual needs.

Responsibilities
- Evaluate referred loans for potential issues and determine appropriate actions (e.g., request clarifications for credit concerns)
- Advise members on approved loan conditions and necessary documentation
- Ensure timely progress and inclusion of all required mortgage processing information (e.g., employment verifications, asset documentation, income statements, appraisal reports, etc.)
- Maintain ongoing communication with members, real estate agents, and sellers throughout the loan process
- Oversee the mortgage loan process to ensure compliance with federal regulations and internal guidelines
- Be available to assist members and their real estate agents during evenings and weekends as needed
- Collect and submit required documentation to the Mortgage Processor
- Address inquiries regarding mortgage applications, processing status, and any concerns
- Seek opportunities for outreach and marketing to members and potential clients through presentations and local events
- Conduct mortgage loan applications through face-to-face meetings, mail, or phone
- Resolve operational and processing issues, inquiries, and complaints
- Review applications for completeness and accuracy, identifying any additional information required
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Proficient in working with automated systems
- Knowledge of accounting, credit, and lending principles
- Experience in customer service, preferably in real estate, insurance, retail banking, or financial services
- Familiarity with the lending application and approval process
- Understanding of mortgage lending concepts and principles
- Knowledge of banking and financial industry standards
- Must register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry prior to employment, including background checks
- Strong skills in database management and presentation software
- Competence in performing mathematical calculations accurately
- Ability to guide members effectively to enhance their experience and loyalty
- Proficient in comprehending and communicating complex legal documents
- Skilled in public speaking and presenting in professional settings
- Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet applications
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with Navy Federal's Mortgage Production and Servicing Systems
- Knowledge of mortgage and equity loan processing, closing, and documentation requirements
- Understanding of VA and conventional loan program regulations and procedures.
