Social Research Analyst

Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of the Social Scientist role encompass, but are not limited to, the following:
- Serve as a technical authority in visitor engagement and social science research methodologies.
- Oversee project management for the development of socioeconomic monitoring protocols, including analysis and enhancements.
- Engage in technical writing, reporting, and documentation of socioeconomic data findings.
- Possess knowledge of policies related to data collection, analytical resolution, and collaboration with recreation, leisure, protected area, and visitor engagement programs.
Employment Conditions

- Appointment is contingent upon a background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- Compliance with the Selective Service Registration Act is required for male applicants.
- Participation in the Direct Deposit Electronic Funds Transfer Program is necessary.
- The selected candidate may be required to work on-call, including evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime, and shift work.
- New employees or supervisors in the Federal government must complete a one-year probationary period.
- Overnight travel away from home may be required up to four nights per month, necessitating the acquisition of a government charge card for travel purposes.
- Training and maintenance of a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority may be required.
Qualifications
All qualifications must be fulfilled by the closing date of this announcement unless otherwise specified.
Credit will be awarded for all relevant qualifying experience. To receive credit, your resume MUST clearly detail the nature of duties and responsibilities for each position, including starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and must reflect the total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, hours must be specified to accurately prorate the amount of qualified specialized experience.
SELECTIVE FACTOR: This position requires experience in socioeconomic duties, specifically working with diverse socioeconomic methodologies to establish protocols for analyzing and reporting socioeconomic monitoring data and results for recreation, leisure, protected area, and visitor engagement programs over time. Candidates who do not meet this requirement will not be considered for this position.

To qualify for this position at the GS-12 grade level, candidates must possess ALL of the following basic and minimum qualifications:
BASIC REQUIREMENT:
- Degree: in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines pertinent to the position. -OR-
- Combination of education and experience that provides knowledge of one or more behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. -OR-
- Four years of relevant experience demonstrating knowledge of one or more behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (gained in either public or private sectors). This experience must include ALL of the following:
- Providing leadership to parks and programs regarding socioeconomic monitoring data,
- Conducting data analyses utilizing primary and secondary data sources,
- Developing tools and reference materials to assist parks and stakeholders in understanding socioeconomic data, methodologies, analyses, and results,
- Maintaining socioeconomic monitoring databases to manage, document, and communicate with various stakeholders, and
- Offering technical assistance to park managers and external stakeholders in the interpretation of socioeconomic monitoring data and results.
Candidates must include hours worked per week. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours will be prorated. Experience listed as full-time will be credited at 40 hours per week.

Volunteer Experience: Experience includes both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer service through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations. Volunteer work contributes to critical competencies, knowledge, and skills that translate directly to paid employment. All qualifying experience, including volunteer work, will be credited.
Education
To qualify based on education, a legible copy of transcripts must be submitted, including your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if selected for this position, official transcripts must be provided before starting work.
If using education to meet qualification requirements, you must demonstrate that your education credentials have been evaluated by a recognized organization specializing in the interpretation of foreign education programs, and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program.
There is no substitution of education for experience at the grade level(s) of this announcement.
