Job Summary

As a key member of the City of Fort Collins team, the Sr Manager, Social Sustainability will play a crucial role in planning, advising, and administering housing policies, programs, actions, and responsibilities to achieve the City's commitment to a balanced and vibrant housing market. This position will focus on addressing housing affordability and homelessness, housing policies, and housing-specific funding strategies, structures, and options. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of housing laws, policies, and procedures, as well as experience in strategic planning, project management, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

The Sr Manager, Social Sustainability will be responsible for managing the multi-year vision and direction for the City's housing and homelessness work, including the implementation of the Housing Strategic Plan. This will involve researching and bringing forward housing-specific funding strategies, structures, and options, as well as developing and managing complex interdisciplinary city-wide and community-wide housing projects. The successful candidate will also lead the development of City housing policy, strategic plans, and regulatory language and code development, and will oversee the Housing and Homelessness team, including classified and hourly employees. Additionally, this role will involve creating and maintaining systems for investment decisions, implementation, oversight, and review, and reporting of the City's housing funds, as well as coordinating and convening the Housing Executive Committee to ensure consistent, timely strategic direction on cross-departmental housing policy decisions.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in sustainability, planning, public health, business, public administration, finance, communications, or a related field, and a minimum of five years of progressively responsible managerial/administrative experience in affordable housing and/or management and strategic policy making, including five years of leadership and policy development experience in a highly competitive housing market. The successful candidate will also have a strong ability to communicate technical subject matter to the general public, City leadership, and present to diverse audiences, as well as experience preparing and implementing strategic plans for housing programs and initiatives. Additionally, this role requires a strong commitment to public service, and the ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with peers, leaders, internal/external partners, customers, and city employees.
