Job Title: Senior Public Health Nutritionist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Public Health Nutritionist to join our team at the Department of Health in Pinellas County. As a key member of our public health team, you will play a critical role in promoting and improving the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county, and community efforts.

Job Summary:

The Senior Public Health Nutritionist will be responsible for certifying clients for participation in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC Program) according to the WIC Manual DHM 150-24. You will provide nutrition counseling, education, and follow-up services to WIC Program clients, promote and support breastfeeding among WIC clients, and develop high-risk nutrition care plans for medical high-risk clients and high-risk clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Certify clients for participation in the WIC Program according to the WIC Manual DHM 150-24
  • Provide nutrition counseling, education, and follow-up services to WIC Program clients
  • Promote and support breastfeeding among WIC clients
  • Develop high-risk nutrition care plans for medical high-risk clients and high-risk clients
  • Assure scheduling of follow-up counseling sessions
  • Perform anthropometric duties to include hemoglobin as needed
  • Provide group nutrition education classes to WIC participants as needed
  • Design nutrition educational materials for use in the WIC Program
  • Assist with training of new WIC nutrition staff in the certification and counseling process
  • Assist with the development and evaluation of the nutrition program plan and other documents as needed for the WIC Program
Requirements:
  • Florida State Licensure as a Dietitian/Nutritionist
  • At least 1 year of WIC experience
  • Ability to fluently speak, read, and write in English and Spanish
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends
