  • Prototype Fabrication: Manufacture prototype parts using manual and CNC milling machines, lathes, grinders, and other equipment.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, CAD models, and other technical documents to determine the specifications for the prototype.
  • Machine Setup: Set up machines, including tool selection, fixture setup, and part alignment, to ensure accuracy and precision in machining.
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect finished products using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and CMMs to ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with design engineers and product developers to refine designs, suggest improvements, and troubleshoot any issues during the prototyping process.
  • Material Selection: Select appropriate materials for machining based on design requirements, including metals, plastics, and composites.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on machining equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of machining processes, tool changes, and any modifications made during the prototyping phase.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a machinist, preferably in a prototype or R&D environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating both manual and CNC machines. Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials.
  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical documents.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of precision and attention to detail in all aspects of machining and quality control.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a machinist apprenticeship or technical program preferred.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy materials, stand for long periods, and work in a noisy environment.
  • Computer Skills: Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and basic computer operation for programming and documentation purposes.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
  • Schedule: Tuesday through Friday from 6:00am to 4:30pm
