This position plays a crucial role in the development of aircraft structures, focusing on Fatigue and Damage Tolerance analysis. Key responsibilities include conducting thorough fatigue and damage tolerance assessments for metallic components, utilizing both traditional calculation methods and advanced computational techniques to create structures with optimal strength-to-weight ratios.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct durability and damage tolerance evaluations to ensure compliance with structural integrity standards.
  • Participate in team projects that may involve detailed part sizing, layout optimization, trade study assessments, weight reduction initiatives, certification processes, or in-service support.
  • Document analyses to support trade studies or detailed drawing approvals for airframe structures. Collaborate with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to exchange technical information and discuss project outcomes.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of classical and numerical (Finite Element) stress analysis methodologies.
  • Establish necessary tasks and determine the most effective approaches for completion. Ability to work autonomously is essential.
  • Promote best practices and identify opportunities for process, method, and tool enhancements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Civil, Mechanical) with a strong focus on structural design, analysis, and mechanics of materials is required. A Master's degree in engineering is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 10 years of overall analysis experience in airframe design projects.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Fatigue and Damage Tolerance analysis, or a Master's degree with a focus on fracture mechanics. Experience with airframe design, stress analysis, metallic materials, MRB, FAR/JAR/CS/Part 21, Certification, CATIA, NASTRAN, PATRAN, and HYPERWORKS is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, & PowerPoint) is required.
  • Familiarity with G-Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) is a plus.
  • Experience supporting the Boeing Aircraft fleet is beneficial.
  • Specific experience with the Boeing 737 is considered an asset.
