Position Overview
As a vital member of the healthcare team, the Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in facilitating patient care and operational efficiency. Under the guidance of healthcare providers, this position involves coordinating examinations, treatments, and health care planning for patients while adhering to established protocols and workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure effective patient care coordination.
- Prepare and assist patients in the clinical setting, accurately measuring vital signs and documenting relevant patient information, including medical history and medication screening.
- Conduct approved back-office testing and assist providers during examinations and procedures.
- Maintain exam rooms, ensuring they are stocked with necessary medical supplies and properly sanitized.
- Document patient interactions and medical information in the electronic health record (EHR) in compliance with established standards.
- Provide timely follow-up with patients regarding test results and care instructions as directed by healthcare providers.
- Perform clerical tasks and other duties as assigned, which may include traveling between different office locations.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Current CPR certification.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant Program or equivalent experience in a direct patient care role.
Certification Requirements:
- Must complete certification training and/or testing within 30 days of hire if graduated from a medical assistant program within the last five years or have one year of relevant work experience within the last three years.
- Accepted Medical Assistant Certification (NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in a related field.
