Role Overview:

FPU invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Physics. The successful candidate will contribute to our expanding STEM programs and engage in the integration of faith and education. We seek individuals who demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, scholarship, and diversity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality instruction in undergraduate physics courses, including both algebra-based and calculus-based series, along with associated laboratory work.
  • Design and develop innovative curriculum in the area of physics or related fields.
  • Engage in scholarly activities that promote student-faculty collaborative research.
  • Supervise and mentor undergraduate research projects.
  • Provide academic advising to students, particularly those majoring in applied mathematics or software engineering.
  • Maintain regular communication with students regarding their academic progress.
  • Keep accurate records of student performance and academic achievements.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related discipline.
  • Evidence of scholarly accomplishments or potential.
  • Proven excellence in teaching with a focus on undergraduate education and student success.
  • Willingness to teach in various formats, including traditional, accelerated, and online courses.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, and staff in a collegial environment.
  • Demonstrated passion for mentoring students.
  • Proficiency in utilizing technology and learning management systems.
  • Commitment to the Christian mission of the university and active involvement in a local church community.

Preferred:

  • Experience with computer-based algebra systems and programming languages for problem-solving.
