Astronomy/Physics Professor Opportunity

We are seeking a highly qualified Astronomy/Physics Professor to join our faculty at Fresno City College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a full schedule of developmental and transfer-level Astronomy/Physics courses, as well as participating in program review, student learning outcome development, and assessment to improve student learning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach Astronomy/Physics courses at the developmental and transfer levels;
• Participate in program review and assessment to improve student learning;
• Develop and implement curriculum responsive to the needs of our students;
• Collaborate with colleagues to create a positive and inclusive learning environment;
• Engage in professional development to stay current in the field of Astronomy/Physics.

Requirements:

• Master's degree in Physics, Astronomy, or Astrophysics;
• OR Bachelor's degree in Physics or Astronomy and Master's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Meteorology, or Geophysics;
• OR valid California Community College Credential;
• OR equivalent education and/or experience.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Experience teaching Astronomy/Physics courses at the community college level;
• Knowledge of current teaching methods and technologies in Astronomy/Physics;
• Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds;
• Commitment to equity-minded practice and culturally responsive teaching.
