Astronomy/Physics Professor

We are seeking a highly qualified Astronomy/Physics Professor to join our faculty at Fresno City College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a full schedule of developmental and transfer-level Astronomy/Physics courses, as well as participating in program review, student learning outcome development, and assessment to improve student learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Astronomy/Physics courses at the developmental and transfer levels;
- Participate in program review and assessment to improve student learning;
- Develop and implement curriculum responsive to the needs of our students;
- Collaborate with colleagues to create a positive and inclusive learning environment;
- Engage in professional development to stay current in the field of Astronomy/Physics.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Physics, Astronomy, or Astrophysics;
- OR Bachelor's degree in Physics or Astronomy and Master's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Meteorology, or Geophysics;
- OR valid California Community College Credential;
- OR equivalent education and/or experience.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience teaching Astronomy/Physics courses at the community college level;
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and technologies in Astronomy/Physics;
- Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds;
- Commitment to equity-minded practice and culturally responsive teaching.
