Job Description

At Blizzard Entertainment, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Production Technology team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for demonstrating technical expertise to coordinate and improve impact across multiple groups of cross-disciplined engineers, while minimizing duplicated efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate technical challenges of partner teams and apply experience to lead assembled teams to provide strong value-driven solutions.
  • Mentor, develop, and inspire engineers reporting to you, while continuously learning from them.
  • Work with Prod Tech leadership and the business to make our team a top-tier destination for dedicated engineers.
  • Share ideas and technology with partner teams throughout Blizzard in a clear and effective way.
  • Drive a blameless culture around incident management with stakeholders.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience using C++.
  • 2+ years of professional Linux development experience.
  • Professional experience working with relational databases.
  • Strong organization skills, product sense, and ability to execute at a high level.
  • Maintain and build code for distributed systems.
Bonus Requirements
  • Self-assess system, codebase, or team needs and make a case to prioritize work.
  • Maintain uptime of always-on, always-available live global services.
  • Develop on multiple platforms - Windows, Mac, Linux.
  • Owning a tech stack from continuing development to live operation.
  • Develop highly available, distributed, live, real-time services.
  • Develop in a context where many dependent services are owned by other teams.
  • Lead and develop other engineers.
  • Work with mature legacy codebases.
  • Develop software used globally in compliance with local regulations.
  • Database development experience (RDBMS).
  • CI/CD.
  • Linux and/or MacOS development experience.
