Job Summary:
The Healthcare Administrative Coordinator plays a vital role in managing various responsibilities associated with the daily operations of the clinic. This includes patient identification, check-in procedures, charge posting, cash handling, and basic appointment scheduling. The coordinator is essential in ensuring that patients' needs are met while maintaining a positive and professional environment.
Educational Requirements:
Associate's Degree in a Related Field or equivalent experience in a customer service setting (minimum of three years).
Certification & Licensure Requirements:
Completion of a medical terminology course within one year of employment.
Experience Requirements:
Prior experience in a public-facing role, along with basic computer proficiency and familiarity with office equipment such as fax machines and copiers.
Additional Requirements:
Successful completion of a Medical Terminology course.
Skills and Knowledge:
Excellent communication abilities; adherence to confidentiality standards; capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; strong attention to detail; adept at prioritizing and executing tasks under pressure; flexibility to adapt to changes and make decisions in ambiguous situations.
Essential Functions:
The Healthcare Administrative Coordinator is responsible for:
- Coordinating daily clinic operations, including patient check-in/out, charge posting, cash management, appointment scheduling, and patient registration.
- Managing phone communications and delivering messages to healthcare providers.
- Accurately reporting medical information received from patients and referring physicians.
- Acting as a professional role model within the clinic.
- Handling incoming patient care requests and managing referral activities.
- Understanding insurance coverage rules and ensuring compliance with eligibility and benefits requirements.
- Initiating prior authorizations as necessary.
