Position Overview:
The State of Nebraska is in search of a skilled Engineering Project Coordinator to contribute to the advancement of transportation initiatives. This pivotal role within the Project Development Division is designed for individuals who are organized, goal-oriented, and eager to collaborate with a diverse team to enhance the future of transportation in Nebraska.

Key Responsibilities:
As an Engineering Project Coordinator, you will:

• Oversee and facilitate the progress of assigned projects, ensuring alignment with defined scope, timelines, and budgetary constraints.

• Manage multiple projects concurrently, each at different stages of execution.

• Collaborate closely with the Environmental Section to provide design assistance in evaluating alternatives, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

• Engage with external stakeholders, including federal and state agencies, local governments, and utility companies.

• Organize and lead project-related meetings, documenting discussions and decisions.

• Participate in public outreach events, inspections, and manage consultants involved in project development.

• Contribute to the Request For Qualifications (RFQ) process and consultant selection.

• Review public and agency feedback on project documents and assist in finalizing reports.

• Attend departmental meetings and undertake special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
• A bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline is essential. Candidates must obtain Engineer Intern Enrollment (Engineering in Training Certification) within one year of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Nebraska.
  • Five years of experience in roadway design or highway construction.
  • Proven experience in project coordination and scheduling.
  • Familiarity with NEPA processes, including Environmental Impact Statements and Environmental Assessments.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret project plans and contract documents accurately.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
