**Job Summary**
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for designing and developing automation equipment, working closely with cross-functional teams to bring innovative products to market.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Design and develop automation equipment using Solidworks, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
* Collaborate with project teams to develop new machine platforms, leveraging critical thinking skills and technical expertise.
* Provide mechanical installation support and technical expertise throughout project lifecycle.
* Work unsupervised in the assembly, set-up, and integration of automation equipment as needed.
* Optimize performance of automated equipment, inspection equipment, and robotic work-cells.
* Work with vendors to establish equipment specifications and ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
* Develop training instructions and standard operating procedures for equipment implementation.
* Participate in safety, cost savings, continuous improvement, and innovation initiatives.
* Adhere to Berry Global's industry and regulatory procedures.
**Requirements**
* Minimum 1 year mechanical design experience with strong Solidworks experience.
* Strong project management, organization, and problem-solving skills.
* Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to work independently and with others.
* Ability to work at continuously varying heights for an 8-hour shift and lift 50 lbs occasionally.
* Excellent verbal and written skills.
* Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.
