**Job Summary**

We are seeking a highly skilled Psychiatrist to join our team at Greater Mental Health of New York. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified professional to work with a multidisciplinary team in the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Program serving Adults.

The successful candidate will provide direct client care, including assessment, medication management, and psychiatric treatment to individuals experiencing substance use and co-occurring disorders. They will also support recovery by providing services that reflect our deeply held values, including self-determination, choice, shared decision-making, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, including substance use and psychiatric history, course of illness, response to treatment, mental status examination, and DSM-V diagnoses.
  • Present and discuss assessment results at team meetings and case conferences.
  • Prescribe psychotropic medications and conduct regular assessments of therapeutic responses and side effects.
  • Administer medication as needed, including intramuscular injections according to Rx orders.
  • Assess and discuss eligibility for Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT).
  • Provide recommendations on level of care and treatment setting to meet individual needs.
  • Coordinate care to address medical issues in collaboration with other staff members.
  • Document client progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Collaborate with outside care providers and referral sources as needed.
  • Ensure timely and accurate prescriber billing.
  • Provide support, education, and counseling to family members/significant others of clients.

Requirements:

  • NYS Licensed Psychiatrist.
  • Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.
  • Exhibit patience, flexibility, compassion, and a deep belief in recovery.
  • Maintain an active license in good standing to practice in New York State.
  • Active unrestricted federal and state DEA registrations.
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and agency policies.
  • Understanding of 42CFR, HIPAA Privacy Standards, and related agency policies.
  • Reliable and able to work independently, maintaining confidentiality.
