The Catering and Events Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the Events and Catering Manager with the promotion, sales, and management of both onsite and offsite events, including weddings and catering services. This position requires flexibility, with a work schedule that includes evenings and weekends. The specialist will be expected to fulfill the responsibilities outlined below while driving results through effective event and catering sales and maximizing profitability.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Event and Catering Management:
  • In this role, you will coordinate events and catering requests, ensuring our guests receive exceptional service. Success in this position requires strong communication and organizational skills, along with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  • Handle incoming calls related to events/catering, document all inquiries, and maintain a comprehensive event calendar in collaboration with the Events and Catering Manager.
  • Assist in maintaining organized and updated event files, documenting all communications, orders, and special requests.
  • Support the planning, coordination, and execution of private, semi-private, and catering events both onsite and offsite.
  • Respond to email inquiries regarding events, providing accurate and detailed information to potential clients.
  • Ensure all team members are well-informed about event offerings to effectively promote and discuss with guests and potential clients.
  • Collaborate closely with the catering team to ensure timely preparation of menu items.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external vendors.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activities in the catering sector.
Additional Duties:
  • Complete other tasks, projects, and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Assist with team member recognition programs and incentives.
  • Support daily restaurant operations as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in food and beverage service.
  • At least 6 months of experience in catering, events, or event planning.
  • Demonstrated strong communication and leadership abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficient in various computer software applications (MS Office, Revel POS, Restaurant365, and Tripleseat).
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work 20-25 hours per week.
  • Good physical condition and strong communication skills are essential.
  • Awareness of management, staff, and guest needs.
  • Knowledge of Health Department Standards.
  • Experience in people management, including recruitment and scheduling.
  • Act as a brand ambassador both within and outside the establishment.
