Role Overview

The Machining Operations Supervisor will oversee and coordinate the activities of assembly and machining staff within a dynamic manufacturing setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and manage the workflow of personnel and machinery.
  • Assign tasks to team members, establish production goals, and convey clear instructions.
  • Foster positive employee relations and address concerns promptly, collaborating with HR as necessary.
  • Monitor and facilitate training initiatives within the department, ensuring all documentation is maintained.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by promoting safety protocols and conducting regular inspections.
  • Lead departmental meetings and perform performance evaluations as required.
  • Conduct weekly safety audits and participate in the corrective action process.
  • Manage scheduling and adjust work assignments to optimize efficiency.
  • Evaluate repair turnaround times and ensure tasks are allocated based on employee skill sets.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education.
  • Journeyman certification in a relevant trade is an asset.
  • A minimum of three years' experience in high-pressure die casting, along with supervisory experience, is preferred.
  • Strong comprehension skills for reviewing inspection forms.
  • Ability to ensure maintenance and inspection tasks are thoroughly completed.
  • Excellent communication skills to update management on job progress and clarify tasks.
  • Coaching abilities to train staff on operational procedures and troubleshooting.
  • Capability to lead meetings and coordinate tasks among workers and subcontractors.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Willingness to learn about new technologies and industry advancements.
