Job Title: Pipefitter Foreman

Company: Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago

Under general oversight, accountable for the installation, upkeep, troubleshooting, and repair of piping networks associated with heating, water, fuel, gas, air, and chemicals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Directs Pipefitters and Leadmen, organizes and evaluates work
  • Assesses material and labor requirements, maintains documentation
  • Ensures workshop equipment is current and properly maintained
  • Manages repair shop operations and safety protocols

Additional Duties

  • Responsible for all trade tools
  • Completes tasks beyond primary responsibilities as assigned

Environmental Conditions

May entail exposure to mechanical machinery, high noise levels, odors, varying weather conditions, and confined spaces.

Desired Skills and Abilities

  • Expertise in installing and maintaining diverse piping systems
  • Familiarity with pneumatic control and HVAC systems
  • Understanding of workplace safety measures
  • Skill in torch operation, welding, soldering, and blueprint reading
  • Strong communication and computer proficiency

Minimum Requirements

At least two years of experience as a lead Pipefitter or equivalent

Promotional Criteria

  • Determined by service tenure and civil service status
