About Chartwells K12

Chartwells K12, a leading provider of food and hospitality services to schools, is seeking a part-time Food Service Worker/Cashier to join our team at Wethersfield Public Schools.

Job Summary

This role performs cashiering duties, including general food service work, maintaining sanitation standards in the preparation, service, and dining room facilities. The ideal candidate will have previous food service experience and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare food items, such as washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables, weighing and measuring designated ingredients.
  • Carry pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from work stations, stove, and refrigerator, following safety standards.
  • Distribute supplies, utensils, and portable equipment.
  • Store foods in designated areas, adhering to wrapping, dating, and food safety rotation procedures.
  • Clean work areas, equipment, and utensils.
  • Maintain compliance with sanitation and safety requirements.
  • Use approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures, and standard portion control.
  • Serve customers in a friendly, efficient manner, following outlined steps of service.
  • Interact with customers, resolving complaints in a service-oriented manner.
  • Relay relevant information to supervisors.
  • Perform sales transactions, making change, accepting declining balance cards, and other acceptable forms of payment.
