The State of Connecticut is seeking a skilled Office of Research Webmaster (Information Technology Analyst 1) who is passionate about web development. This role involves working with various data sets and collaborating with IT/BITS and Office of Research staff to maintain our website.

As the Office of Research Webmaster, you will:
  • Craft and maintain the Office of Research website and digital interfaces.
  • Design and test layouts, interfaces, and navigation for compatibility across devices and browsers.
  • Build compelling visualizations to simplify and present complex data effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with web and accessibility standards in design and functionality.
  • Design graphics and manage website content and links.
  • Develop user friendly data access tools with a focus on aesthetics and functionality.
We are a collaborative team seeking candidates with a strong track record in website content organization, development, and maintenance. Key Skills for an outstanding Webmaster include expertise in web application frameworks, database management and optimization, and proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools. Familiarity with production control software, HTML, ASP/ASP.net, VB.net, and graphic design is highly valued, along with experience in cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure. PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In a state agency Information Technology (IT) environment, this class is accountable for performing a range of information technology tasks and application development in an IT environment.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
  • Design and maintain Office of Research website and digital interfaces.
  • Develop and test layouts, interfaces, functionality, and navigation menus to ensure they work across browsers or devices.
  • May evaluate web design following web and accessibility standards.
  • May design and test interfaces for using digital devices, websites, and software with a focus on aesthetics and design.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

Five (5) years of experience in information technology (IT) operations support, programming or another IT related support area.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE

Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been performing basic technical support work in such areas as:
  • help desk functions;
  • installing and maintaining basic computer hardware and software;
  • data communications, microcomputer support, production control or programming;
  • performing any closely related basic technical support function.
NOTE: For state employees basic technical support work is interpreted at the level of Information Technology Technician.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
  • College training in management information systems, computer science or information technology related area may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.
  • A Master's degree in management information systems, computer science or electrical engineering may be substituted for the General and Special Experience.
  • For state employees two (2) years as an Information Technology Technician may be substituted for the General and Special Experience.
  • Successful completion of an Information Technology Analyst Trainee program approved by the Department of Administrative Services may be substituted for the General and Special Experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience organizing, developing, launching, and maintaining website content.
  • Experience with web application frameworks such as MS Visual Studio.
  • Experience with database management and optimization (for example SQL, MySQL, MS Access).
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools (for example: Excel, Tableau, PowerBI).
  • Experience using production control software.
  • Experience using html.
  • Experience using ASP and/or ASP.net.
  • Experience using VB.net.
  • Experience with graphic design.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Good Cloud, or Azure.
