Exciting Opportunity for RF Communication Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled RF Communication Systems Engineer to join our team at Amentum. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a critical role in the development and implementation of communication systems for NASA's Gateway Program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop RF communication subsystems for the Gateway Program
  • Write Interface Requirements Documents (IRDs), Verification Requirements (VRs), and Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for spacecraft communication systems
  • Review and analyze link and network layer protocols implemented on communication systems
  • Determine the performance of RF communication links and create link budgets using analytical methods and simulations
  • Participate in Systems Requirements Reviews (SRRs), Preliminary & Critical Design Reviews, and Technical Interchange Meetings
  • Perform RF interference & compatibility analysis, Power Flux Density analysis, and Spectral analysis for space-based communication systems
  • Assist and support NASA RF communication sub-system manager with reviews, meetings, and technical point of contact
  • Represent JSC and interface with other NASA centers, federal agencies, and commercial partners
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the field or a related area
  • Strong analytical skills in RF communications
  • Strong knowledge of communication systems, digital modulation, spread spectrum signals, signal detection, data formatting, and packetizing
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work in a team environment
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with NASA processes
  • Knowledge in antennas, RF propagation, and network layer protocols
