Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Public Works/Civil Inspector to join our team at Bureau Veritas Group. As a key member of our infrastructure quality assurance team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal codes, regulations, and specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and observe construction activities on a daily basis to ensure adherence to approved plans and specifications.
  • Verify material deliveries and submittals, and work with clients to resolve any issues.
  • Perform and/or monitor testing of backfill or construction materials as required.
  • Inspect erosion control measures at construction sites during construction.
  • Coordinate and schedule requested inspections.
  • Monitor testing of construction materials and work with clients to resolve any issues.
  • Collect and convey information for approval of needed changes to approved plans.
  • Obtain proper documentation associated with all changes.
  • Compile and maintain detailed project records, including daily reports and other documentation as needed.
  • Assist in providing input during pre-design and pre-construction meetings.
  • Maintain regular and punctual on-site attendance.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Three years' experience related to the civil engineering field (drafting, surveying, utility construction, or construction technology).
  • OR one year of college/trade school related to drafting, surveying, utility construction, or related technical curriculum.
  • OR Certified Public Infrastructure Inspector (CPII) from the American Public Works Association.
  • OR any combination of education, experience, and/or certifications that will provide the necessary knowledge and skills to be an effective Public Works Inspector.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior public works inspection experience.
  • Candidates with an academic curriculum in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or engineering technology.
Working Conditions
  • Must have and maintain a valid Class 'C' Driver's License.
  • Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, and criminal history background check.
  • Must be able to work some overtime when required.
