This role is essential for maintaining the cleanliness and order of the University Housing facilities. The custodian will undertake various cleaning tasks to ensure a hygienic and welcoming environment for residents and visitors. Responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, managing waste disposal, dusting, window washing, and maintaining floors and carpets. The custodian may work independently or alongside other custodial staff and students, depending on the assignment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform daily cleaning duties, including:
- Sanitizing and stocking restrooms.
- Cleaning offices and meeting spaces.
- Vacuuming and mopping floors.
- Maintaining the cleanliness of stairwells and entrances.
- Managing waste and recycling efforts.
- Oversee student custodial staff, assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
- Conduct minor maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs and reporting repair needs.
- Assist in event setups, including arranging furniture and equipment.
- Ensure security protocols are followed, including locking and unlocking facilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
There are no specific minimum qualifications established for this role; however, relevant experience may be beneficial.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in custodial services, particularly in educational or public settings.
- Familiarity with cleaning equipment and procedures for various surfaces.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Successful candidates will demonstrate strong communication skills, a commitment to customer service, and the ability to work effectively in a diverse environment. The role requires physical stamina and the ability to handle cleaning chemicals and equipment safely.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position involves both indoor and outdoor work, sometimes in varying weather conditions. Flexibility in work hours may be required to accommodate the needs of the University Housing facilities.
