Project Engineer Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a skilled Project Engineer to support a full-service GC on a federal construction project in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area. The ideal candidate will have experience with NAVFAC construction and possess strong project management skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support project management team with project submittals, coordination, and quality control.
  • Monitor and drive daily progress of project work packages and activities to meet project schedule.
  • Provide detailed updates to project managers, team members, and stakeholders.
  • Organize and maintain project documentation, artifacts, trackers, and reports.
  • Manage and oversee Definable Features of Work - Submittal packages.
  • Support maintenance and continuous improvement of project management processes and procedures.
  • Actively participate in Continuous Improvement projects and tasks.
  • Adhere to all required ISO procedures and comply with work training requirements.
  • Support overall project quality and reviews trade contractors' methods in accordance with project contract documents.
  • Reviews and analyzes submittal data on product specifications, scopes of work, plans, and engineer reports to ensure finished product meets client expectations for quality and reliability.
  • Assist project management team with RFI process, ensuring all RFIs are properly logged, reviewed, and forwarded to appropriate parties.
  • Support testing programs throughout construction to verify materials and installations meet specifications and assist QC in monitoring daily construction activities for contract compliance.
  • Conduct random project site audits at all stages of production process and inspect materials for specification and contract compliance.
  • Effectively interact with NAVFAC Quality Control personnel.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years' experience supporting federal or commercial projects.
  • Ground-up vertical construction experience (project experience working on buildings).
  • Scheduling experience with MS Project, Primavera P6, Procore, or other scheduling software.
  • Ability to coordinate subcontractor and client meetings.
  • OSHA-30 Certified.
