We invite you to explore this opportunity with Comtec Consultants. The role involves setting up and operating various types of milling machines, including plain, universal, horizontal, and vertical models, to execute precise machining tasks. Responsibilities include:
  • Performing complex machining operations such as creating compound angles and contours.
  • Boring angular holes with precision.
  • Executing helical and spiral milling, as well as gear, spline, and keyway cutting to stringent tolerances.

The successful candidate will:
  • Select, mount, and align specialized machine attachments and tooling.
  • Plan the sequence of operations, determining the number of cuts and setup methods.
  • Adjust speeds, feeds, and depth of cut as necessary.
  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications accurately.
  • Utilize a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments.

Additional responsibilities include making standard shop computations and accurately measuring, marking, and scribing dimensions to prepare stock for machining. The role may also involve monitoring and verifying quality in line with statistical process control or other quality assurance procedures.
**Qualifications:**
  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience is required.
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent is necessary.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering specifications.
  • Proficiency in using precision hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Experience with robotics and CNC machining is preferred.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, preset torque tools, reference inspection gauges, and dial indicators.

Candidates must also possess the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret security clearance (not required to start). Flexibility to work any shift, including 4/10 or 3/10 schedules, is essential.
