As a Mortgage Loan Originator, you will play a vital role in facilitating mortgage applications for borrowers in low-to-moderate income areas. Your involvement in Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) initiatives will be essential in promoting financial inclusivity within the community. This position requires compliance with federal registration under the SAFE Act.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently develop and nurture new mortgage business opportunities.
- Promote and market the bank's mortgage offerings to potential clients.
- Travel to meet prospective clients at their homes or businesses as necessary, following up through various communication methods.
- Engage with local real estate firms and housing agencies to promote proprietary CRA products.
- Assist low-to-moderate income borrowers by providing information on agency-related products such as FHA and VA loans.
- Conduct thorough interviews with applicants to gather and evaluate their financial information, including income, assets, debts, and credit history.
- Assess the creditworthiness of applicants independently.
- Issue pre-qualification statements regarding borrowers' eligibility.
- Advise clients on the most suitable mortgage products based on their financial situations and needs.
- Negotiate loan terms and conditions with borrowers, ensuring compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements.
- Provide guidance to management on compliance strategies and necessary modifications to operational policies.
- Collaborate with housing agencies and government entities to support CRA initiatives.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and governmental requirements related to CRA housing needs.
- Represent the bank in community events and outreach efforts to foster business development.
- Conduct seminars for the public and real estate professionals to enhance community engagement.
This position is critical in helping the bank fulfill its CRA obligations to federal regulators and the community. You will establish relationships with local housing organizations that focus on CRA outreach programs.
Extensive travel is required, with minimal supervision, to engage with potential and existing clients, real estate professionals, and other bank personnel.
Building and maintaining relationships within the community is essential for success in this role.
Education and Experience:
A minimum of an Associate's degree along with two years of sales experience, or a combination of four years of higher education and/or relevant work experience, including at least two years in sales.

The compensation for this position is competitive and reflective of the candidate's experience and skills.
