The Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI), a prominent institution in visual arts and design education, is looking for applications for the role of part-time Artist Model. This position offers a compensation of $16.50 per hour, with variable hours.
Mission Statement: To prepare talented individuals to creatively impact the world through art and design.

General ResponsibilitiesThe primary duty involves posing for figure drawing, painting, or sculpture classes, contributing to the artistic process. Models may pose nude or clothed, serving as the human figure in artistic works.
Key Responsibilities- Arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of class.
- Consult with the instructor regarding required poses.
- Notify the instructor if any pose becomes uncomfortable or painful, or if the environment is unsuitable for nude modeling.
- Ensure the use of adequate padding or cushions during poses.
- Work under the supervision of a faculty member at all times; report any issues to the Model Supervisor.
Models will engage in five main types of poses: gestures, portraits, standing, sitting, and reclining:
- Gesture Poses: Short, dynamic poses lasting from five to ten minutes, showcasing action such as dancing or stretching.
- Portrait Poses: Typically seated and clothed, requiring the head to remain still while other body parts can shift.
- Standing Poses: Must use proper padding underfoot, with a maximum duration of twenty-five minutes without a break.
- Sitting Poses: Care should be taken to avoid circulation issues; models may use various seating options.
- Reclining Poses: These often involve twists in the torso and hips, requiring sufficient padding.
- Preferred experience in a collegiate setting.
- Experience in performing arts is advantageous.
- Prior artist modeling experience is preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
