Job Summary

The City of Tacoma is seeking an experienced Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner to join our Crisis Response Team. As a key member of our team, you will provide medical oversight and guidance to our crisis response team, working in a non-emergency operational capacity to provide therapeutic services to individuals experiencing behavioral health crises.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical oversight and guidance to crisis response team members
  • Develop and implement operating protocols and best practices for crisis unit responders
  • Coordinate treatment recommendations with mental health professionals and social work interventions
  • Participate in team care planning and patient navigation to ensure safe transitions of care and long-term care attainment
  • Perform comprehensive health assessments and diagnose and treat complex illnesses
  • Provide therapeutic interventions, such as splinting, suturing, wound care, and minor procedures
  • Diagnose, treat, and arrange appropriate follow-up for patients to ensure continuity of care
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers
Requirements
  • Master's degree from an advanced nursing education program accredited by a national nursing accreditation body recognized by the US Department of Education
  • 5 years of experience in acute care (ED, ICU, Internal Medicine)
  • 3 years of behavioral health, mental health, and substance abuse nursing care
  • 2 years of leadership and management experience
  • State of Washington Advance Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) license (active/unsanctioned)
  • Prescriptive authority per 21 U.S.C. Statute 823 (g)(2)
  • Successfully pass pre-employment background check and drug screen
Preferred Qualifications
  • Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) Waivered Prescriber or ability to become waivered within 30-days
  • Knowledge of healthcare technology, equipment, supplies, and materials used for medical treatment and care
  • Knowledge of current patient privacy and medical records laws
  • Adherence to clinical and safety standards, protocols, and performance metrics
