Job Title: VRV Service Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented VRV Service Technician to join our team at Hoffman Mechanical Solutions, Inc. As a VRV Service Technician, you will be responsible for assisting our experienced technicians in providing top-notch service to our customers. This includes performing job site surveys, troubleshooting and repairing variable refrigerant air conditioning equipment, and providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in servicing a variety of HVAC products and equipment, with a focus on variable refrigerant systems.
  • Read and understand blueprints, equipment manuals, and engineering specifications to diagnose and repair units.
  • Use a variety of hand tools and specialty equipment typical of the commercial HVAC Service trade.
  • Assist in providing start-up and commissioning service upon completion of construction, and support installing contractors to resolve problems that prohibit proper startup and commissioning.
  • Perform routine system preventive maintenance, utilizing manufacturer-specific data logging devices to analyze system performance.
  • Respond to service calls, utilizing manufacturer-specific data logging devices to troubleshoot and diagnose variable refrigerant equipment and systems.
  • Identify, analyze, diagnose, and repair other non-variable refrigerant systems and products at customer locations.
  • Survey customer sites for properly operating equipment and report any deficiencies found.
  • Assist in preparing for on-site installation and repairs by examining building layouts, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials, and coordinating various trades for on-site work.
  • Diagnose/troubleshoot inoperable equipment and develop action plans for repairs and problem resolution.
  • Determine replacement parts required, secure materials, and complete repairs on a timely basis.
  • Interact face-to-face with customers to ensure proper and accurate communications exist.
  • Assist in documenting all work performed by accurately completing field service reports, equipment log sheets, etc.
  • Complete and submit all required paperwork on a timely basis.
  • Operate and maintain company vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Provide technical support to customers and assist in providing guidance and direction to administrative personnel.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree or equivalent from a technical/trade school with a certificate in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning.
  • Minimum of one (1) year related experience preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Operational knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software preferred.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions and short correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to recognize problems and develop the most cost-effective solution.
  • Must pass pre-hire requirements, including background checks, motor vehicle reports, and drug screenings.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and EPA-mandated card for safe refrigerant handling.

Physical Demands and Work Conditions:

  • Regularly required to stand, talk, hear, and use hands/fingers to grasp/handle/feel.
  • Frequently required to walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb up and down ladders, and/or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to sit.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Regularly exposed to extreme inside/outside weather conditions, including extreme hot and/or extreme cold.
  • Regularly exposed to live voltage, moving mechanical parts, and heavy equipment.
