Job Opportunity: Department Head and Professor of Geosciences

Penn State University is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as the Department Head and Professor of Geosciences in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Department of Geosciences in its pursuit of fundamental, cutting-edge, and strategic research in areas with great societal impact.
  • Develop and execute the department's strategic vision, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment for creating and executing research and educational programs.
  • Ensure the fiscal health of the department, securing necessary resources to bring the strategic plan to life.
  • Represent the department to senior leadership across the university and promote excellence and cohesion throughout the department.
  • Champion the department's diverse set of teaching, research, and outreach programs, and mentor students, postdocs, faculty, and staff.
Requirements:
  • PhD in a relevant field.
  • Previous experience in academic or professional leadership is desirable.
  • Strong leadership skills, entrepreneurial spirit, and ability to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
