Senior Litigation Attorney

Salary: DOE $160,000 - $175,000
Sher Edling LLP is seeking a Litigation Counsel with a minimum of 7 years of substantial litigation experience to spearhead critical cases for our public entity clientele. The successful candidate will oversee the litigation efforts of other team members and play a pivotal role in our mission-driven initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Case Leadership: Direct and manage all facets of significant litigation cases, guiding a dedicated team from the initial investigation through to resolution, including filing, briefing, oral arguments, pre-trial discovery, and trial proceedings.
- Collaborative Strategy: Work collaboratively with attorneys, support staff, technical experts, and other stakeholders to develop and implement litigation strategies that focus on achieving optimal client outcomes while aligning with the firm’s core mission and objectives.
- Client and Case Oversight: Oversee all elements of case progression, including maintaining client relationships, engaging with opposing counsel, and providing mentorship and support to ensure the highest standards of litigation are met, while fostering the professional growth of the Sher Edling team.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate degree with at least seven years of active litigation experience.
- Outstanding legal writing, analytical reasoning, oral communication, and advocacy capabilities.
- Extensive experience managing complex affirmative litigation, encompassing case investigation, pre-trial discovery, motion practice, trial, and settlement negotiations.
- Willingness to travel as necessary.
- A strong commitment to public service and the principles underlying Sher Edling's mission of safeguarding people and the environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ten or more years of active litigation experience.
- Experience in environmental tort litigation.
- Ability to communicate effectively across diverse cultures, demonstrating awareness and management of personal behaviors to foster an inclusive and equitable workplace.
