Senior Controller - Housing Affiliates Job Description

At Episcopal Community Services Of San Francisco, we are seeking a seasoned accounting professional to serve as our Senior Controller - Housing Affiliates.

About the Role

This is a leadership position that requires a highly skilled and experienced accounting professional to oversee all accounting functions for our housing affiliates. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management, accounting software, and GAAP compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all accounting activities, including financial statement preparation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Manage third-party relationships with property management providers and coordinate accounting activities with senior director of finance and accounting.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve intercompany transactions and reporting in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure timely issuance of financial statements, tax filings, and other regulatory reports.
  • Collaborate with housing asset managers on timely submission of regulatory financial filings and reports.
  • Oversee accounts receivable and ensure revenue is recorded in compliance with revenue recognition rules.
  • Handle routine banking functions, monitor cash flow, and advise on cash needs.
  • Oversee third-party general ledger entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required; advanced degree and CPA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting management experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP, FASB 116 & 117, and government contracts, including OMB A-122 and A-133 compliance.
  • Solid technology skills, including proficiency with accounting software and MS Office applications.
  • Demonstrated leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills.
Estimated Salary: $147,518.00 - $151,878.00
