The **Heavy Equipment Maintenance Specialist** plays a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance of the crane and hoist fleet, along with other machinery. This position is dedicated to the effective upkeep and repair of cranes, hoists, and various construction equipment, aimed at maximizing operational efficiency and investment returns. The technician will ensure that all equipment is well-maintained and readily available for deployment in construction activities. Additionally, this role involves responding to urgent service requests in the field to support ongoing projects and maintain their timelines. Frequent travel, up to 60% of the time, may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, organize, and actively participate in the assembly and disassembly of cranes and hoists, including necessary climbing and safety procedures.
- Conduct inspections and maintenance of cranes, hoists, and equipment according to established maintenance protocols.
- Execute repairs, including emergency interventions, at various locations to restore equipment functionality or facilitate transport back to the workshop for further repairs. Procure and gather necessary components for repairs. Assess the repairs and communicate completion status to project supervisors and administrative staff for invoicing purposes.
- Maintain comprehensive service records as required.
- Ensure cleanliness and upkeep of cranes, hoists, vehicles, tools, and the overall work environment.
- At least two years of experience as a Crane/Hoist Technician or in a similar maintenance role is preferred.
- A verifiable combination of education and experience equivalent to four years in the maintenance and repair of cranes and hoists is preferred.
- Proficiency in using computerized diagnostic tools and precision measuring devices is preferred. A strong background in electrical troubleshooting is advantageous.
- In-depth knowledge of the techniques, tools, and equipment used in crane and hoist repair is preferred.
- Exceptional communication skills are essential.
- Familiarity with relevant safety standards, regulations, and procedures is preferred.
- Understanding of state and federal laws governing crane and hoist operations is preferred.
- Knowledge of electrical and computer-controlled systems in cranes and hoists is preferred.
- Familiarity with welding techniques is beneficial.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics is necessary.
- Capability to develop increasingly complex mechanical skills.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- A valid DOT medical card is required.
