Job Summary and Qualifications

We are looking for an experienced Med-Surg Registered Nurse. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating nursing care for Med/Surg patients. You will have patient contact during the immediate pre, intra, and post-operative periods, monitor the activities of nursing staff during procedures, demonstrate clinical skills, and serve as the team leader in emergency situations.   • Develop and implement individualized patient care plans in accordance with nursing practice standards through the nursing process and nursing diagnosis.
  • Administer medications as prescribed for a specific group of patients, demonstrating knowledge of their modes of action, side effects, and contraindications.
  • Initiate, regulate, and manage IV therapy for assigned patients.
  • Assume responsibility for patient placement on the unit and assign care responsibilities based on the complexity of nursing care required.
  • Demonstrate competence in the clinical knowledge, skills, and technology utilized in patient care.
  • Evaluate the patient environment for safety and communicate identified concerns promptly.
  • Provide patient education and keep patients informed of their treatment plans.
  • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance with hospital standards.

Qualifications:

This position is located in the 3 Medical Department.

  • Valid California RN license.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • National RN Certification preferred.
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing school.
  • Minimum of one year of acute care hospital experience in a specialty area preferred.
